About David E. Will,
TOA Founder and Instructor

David E. Will has farmed and ranched his entire life. He grew up on a small farm outside Houston, Texas, where his family had a quarter acre garden, 200 chickens, 200 rabbits, 2 Jersey milk cows, 2 horses, goats, sheep, and hogs. His first paid job was at age five, tending horses. When he was 10, David’s father bought a 204-acre ranch between Gonzales and Bastrop, and named it the Rolling W Ranch. It was there that David learned ranching skills.

David attended Texas A&M University, where he received his B.Sc. in Agricultural Education. He received his M.A. in Agriculture at Sam Houston State University. While researching his thesis on nitrogen fixation in grasses, he read Dr. William A. Albrecht's Papers. which deepened his commitment to organic thinking.

During his career, David served as Grounds Manager for The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa and also for Six Flags Fiesta Texas Park. His organic farm, ranch and landscape consulting business has carried David as far north as Canada and as far south as Mexico. On all his jobs, he enjoyed teaching others about organic landscaping and farming.

David taught organic horticulture and small ranching through community education classes in Comal County for over 30 years. He also taught in Travis, Guadalupe, Blanco, Hays, and Fayette Counties. Think Organic Academy (TOA), which he founded, is located just northwest of Schulenburg, Texas. TOA is the manifestation of a dream that David has held dear for many years: to share his knowledge of organic living with young, beginning farmers and ranchers. Those with a passion for organic agriculture can apply to learn and work - and profit from - using parcels of land on the Think Organic Academy Farm and Blue Rock Ranch.

David also works as a Private Consultant.

The same level of thinking that created our problems cannot be used to solve them.
